Coinbase and USAA team up

A new pilot just started a couple days ago between Coinbase (One of Bitcoins leading exchanges) and USAA (a trusted banking partner designed for US service members and their families).

In this initial pilot a randomly selected set of USAA members will be offered an opportunity to view their Coinbase balances from within their USAA accounts.

How will the pilot work? According to USAA:

The Bitcoin pilot project will use Coinbase API Coinbase Connect to enable the selected USAA members to link their Coinbase account to USAA and allow them to view their bitcoin balance on USAA.com and on the official mobile app.
In May, the financial services group dedicated to providing insurance, banking, investments, retirement products, and advice to 11.2 million current and former members of the U.S. military, had revealed that they are experimenting with the Bitcoin technology for back-office process optimization.

What are USAA's next steps after this pilot completes? Well, no one knows. Even USAA

“Our next steps are dependent upon the results of this pilot.”

I for one have thrown my hat into this ring. If I am accepted as a pilot tester I will follow-up and give you my 2¢.
